NNCO logo 4We are delighted to announce that the Higher Education Funding Council for England has accepted HEART’s proposal to be the West Yorkshire Single Point of Contact for 11-18 state funded schools as part of the new National Network for Collaborative Outreach scheme. This will enable us to refresh completely the website and enhance the services that we currently offer schools.

We are all too aware of the pressures on teachers to help students think about their options for higher education and there are always a range of open days and outreach events to consider. This funding will ensure it’s simpler for teachers to access the information and our revamped website will provide an easy gateway to the activities that are aimed at helping raise students’ aspirations and progression to higher education. We look forward to working with our partners and the schools in West Yorkshire in order to ensure that we deliver a Single Point of Contact that works for everyone.

The networks are funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and managed by HEFCE.  Greg Clark, Minister for Universities and Science, welcomed the networks, saying:

‘Higher education is a transformational experience and the future of the UK economy depends on having highly-trained graduates so it is vital that young people have the right information about progressing into higher education. This programme will ensure that schools and colleges across England can help their students learn about higher education in the classroom, online and through local outreach activity.

The National Networks for Collaborative Outreach (NNCO) will deliver a nationally coordinated approach to working with schools, universities and colleges to help people access higher education. HEART will be one of thirty five local networks that will collectively cover the whole of England. We are also supporting the National Network for the Education of Care Leavers National SPoC.  A full list of all the networks throughout England can be accessed from the HEFCE website.
