HEART were delighted to sponsor Yorkshire Talking Heads on 20 March 2014 when the Vice Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, Professor Bob Cryan provided insights to his journey from Deighton estate to the VC of his home town University.
Huddersfield has just won University of the Year at the Times Higher Education awards and Professor Cryan offered the assembled businesses an insight into the University strategy map which focuses on a vision to be an inspiring, innovative University of international renown. Professor Cryan emphasised that the success at the University has been secured by ‘being the best that you can be’ and setting really challenging targets.
Strong engagement with business, locally, nationally and internationally has assisted the rapid improvements in the University standing leading to improved outcomes for students, staff, business and the Leeds City Region of which Professor Cryan has recently joined the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Board and where he is naturally contributing heavily to supporting the important work being carried out to accelerate growth in the region.
Professor Cryan and University of Huddersfield are an excellent example of academia and business working collaboratively but HEART is fortunate to have so many partners with similar approaches and making huge contributions to the Leeds City Region economy.
