We are not in the business of advocating car theft but we do recognise the immense value of the gaming industry to Leeds City Region and that many of the world’s most popular games, including Grand Theft Auto, are designed and developed in Leeds.

We are delighted to announce the first in a series of Yorkshire Talking Heads, Shine On events developed with Ed Ryder, owner of Biskit Ltd and Yorkshire Talking Heads and a HEART Higher Level Skills Ambassador.

Shine On events are targeted at 15 to 17 year olds from groups that are under-represented in higher education, for example young people in care, with a disability or from areas with a low uptake of higher education.

The first Shine On event will see Ian Bowden, former Art Director for Rockstar Games, the developers of Grand Theft Auto, providing information, advice and guidance on how to progress in education and to secure employment in the gaming industry.  He will draw from his own experiences offering insight to what it is like to work in the gaming industry, how he got into the industry and how young people can get ahead in games.

Full details including links to the Eventbrite booking site are available HERE.

Further Shine On events are being developed and will take place across West Yorkshire offering young people the opportunity to hear directly from leading figures in the business world about what skills, attitudes and attributes are required to be successful in their sector.  Watch out for future events that will be posted on our website HERE.
